Ode to Cafeteria Food

So it's the last week of September (woot) classes are going good. I have a quiz on Thursday in Corporate Finance, which shouldn't be to bad as it is mainly ratio analysis. Other than that it's the same stuff of reading the chapter and dozing off in class. Latin continues to be a struggle as I try to memorize words and not being able to have a basic conversation is, I think, slowing down the process. I do however have plenty of Latin plays to read. Cafeteria food is slowly starting to get bland as the cycle is being repeat. Some days though are very good, and one of those days is Wednesday as we get waffles for breakfast which is absolutely delicious and brightens one's day. Meatballs are usually pretty sketchy, although chili dogs are delicious, and it saddens me that they aren't a regular occurrence back home. Ah yes and I almost forgot to tell you guys my football team tied it's season opener 0-0, I think there were about 12 interceptions in the game.

I had my first real DG(Discipleship Group) today, and it went fairly well as we are doing the 4 walks, talks, and ministries of knowing God. The first walk that we learned of today was walking assured, which has been helpful so far as the more I think on it the less I worry not just about getting to heaven but also about more general things like not having enough money for school. One big thing that I've struggled with lately has been the thinking that I'm not adequate for God in a way, because of the fact that my testimony is what one would call "powerful" but going through DG today I began to realize that it didn't matter, and that God still loves me all the same and still can use me in ministry. Oh I believe I mentioned it last post that this weekend I'm going on a retreat to Red Berry Bible Camp with C4C which should incredibly awesome, and I'm really looking forward to it, and getting off campus for a weekend. I'm also going to be coming home for Thanksgiving as I'm able to get a ride with my parents' cleaner's son, who is also going to the U of S. I look forward to seeing all you guys (and gals) then.

God Bless

Week 2

Well I've reached another week here at the U of S, the weather seems to be trying desperately to hold off the impending winter. Classes are starting to pick up especially my Comm 101 class which between now and the middle of November has and assignment or test due pretty much every class. Similarly most of my other commerce class have a lot of assignments due in the next month or so and although the don't take a long time to complete they need to be done none the less. As well the there is quite a bit more reading than compared to my first year as the profs here barely touch on the text and expect you to read it so you know all the concepts. Latin continues to get harder as we now have to learn 3rd declination nouns as well as neuter (neither) nouns and their corresponding adjectives. My touch football team is about to kickoff the season this Thursday, we're playing in an "A" league so we don't have much hope in getting to the playoffs. As well I'm only able to play in half the games as I have a class Thursday late afternoons, but it should be fun none the less.

Today was also the first day for the bible study I joined through C4C which looks promising as there are only 4, maybe 5 guys in the group so it should be some good discussions. There is also a worship/sermon night on Fridays that's on campus that I've been going to, and there is usually a social activity afterwards (last week it was a photo scavenger hunt). I'm also still looking for a church as I didn't really like the one I went to on the Sunday before last, although good was a bit slow for my taste. Apparently there is a Mennonite church that a few people in C4C go to so I'll have to see if I can get a ride from one of them or make use of my bus pass that I have. The good thing although I don't have many friends in my classes I do have quite a few that I usually see around campus everyday which definitely helps to stop the home sickness. Oh there is also a weekend retreat for christian university students at the end of Sept that I'll be going to and it looks really fun and a good time to get a breather from school. Also there is like 21 girls signed up compared to just 9 guys but of course I should be a good student, and not worry about getting a girlfriend :)

Anyways check back next week as I expand on the monotony of Rez food.

Greetings and Salutations,

Here is the first post of my new blog, which I'll try to update fairly regularly. So anyways whats new in the life of Tyler, as I have now completed one week of school.

To be honest not much, classes are progressing as normal, publishing companies continue to steal my money as the push out new editions that are not needed. My Latin is getting better as I have now memorized the first and second conjugation of verbs, and have partially learned the 1st and 2nd declination of nouns. Now all I need to do is start to memorize actual words which shouldn't be to difficult as at this moment we are dealing with only 7 verbs and about 9 nouns. All my other classes are boring straight forward commerce courses that I'm sure if I started talking about everyone would quit reading my blog.

Onto my social life, well alas I have yet to meet a single girl I still have several months left. I have joined Campus 4 Christ (FKA Campus Crusade 4 Christ) and am looking at joining a on campus bible study with said group. I also have a few friends outside of that group, that I usually hang out with on the weekends. The good thing is one of my friends Brad, he's grandparents live in town and so last week we went over there and had a delicious home cooked meal. Up coming events that I'm looking forward to are the touch football league I've joined, as well C4C is putting on a weekend retreat at the end of September that I'm looking at going to.

Other than that not much is happening in Saskatoon, the weather still remains fairly warm although in the evenings it cools of a fair bit. With that I will say fairwell, and know that all of you are in my prayers.
